A tea glass is normally made of tempered glass, which means the glass will not break when using hot water. When the decoration is burned in, the glass loses its toughness and may break apart when a hot liquid is poured into it. Tea glasses are therefore printed with an ink that does not need to be burnt in (2-component ink). Unfortunately, printing on tea glasses is not scratch-proof and not dishwasher-safe. An alternative to make the glass dishwasher-safe is to engrave tea glasses. This is done using a laser. This technique is more expensive but very appropriate for special occasions.
